1960 Display advertising agency Mad Men won best drama for the fourth year in a row, when the modern family has won five awards including best comedy Emmy Awards.
Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner said that price was "the one who says that people love what we do" after the show lost in the other categories.
Modern Family mockumentary also won two best supporting actor gong and writing and the direction of prices.
Martin Scorsese won best director for Boardwalk Empire drama.

"We had to exclude, but then I also won this award, so you get even," he said.
