"We Need To Talk Kevin Winning Film 'London


LONDON (Reuters) - "We must talk about Kevin" unflinching images of the mother's uneasy relationship with his son, played by Oscar winner Tilda Swinton won the London Film Festival, Best Film Award on Wednesday.

The film, which has impressed critics at its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, was directed by Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay and based on Lionel Shriver's award-winning novel of the same name.

"We need to talk about Kevin" was one of nine finalists for best film in London in annual showcase of cinema, and beat in Venice winner "Faust" and "descendants" with George Clooney, among others.

"Ultimately, we were simply swept away on one of the film, a noble, uncompromising story of pain, which may be in the place of love," said John Madden, president of the jury. "We need to talk about Kevin," was a vision of the group, which combines all the great leaders of the traditions of the film. "


The allocation of the new arrivals went to British actress Candese Reid for his work on "Junkhearts" her first professional acting role.

Sutherland Award, honoring "the first feature of the most original and imaginative" in the festival this year was won by Argentine director Pablo Giorgelli for "The Acacias".

And the Grierson Award for best documentary went to Werner Herzog's death row of research, "Into the Abyss: A Tale of Death, Life Story."

As previously announced, the Canadian director David Cronenberg and British actor Ralph Fiennes received a BFI Fellowship, the highest honor of the British Film Institute.

This year the festival will conclude on Thursday, the gala screening of "Deep Blue Sea", Terence Davies 'adaptation' Terence Rattigan play, starring Rachel Weisz.
